Career Summary
A native of Richmond, Virginia, Buddy began his professional
career with the Xerox Corporation as a salesman and
was later a sales team leader, sales trainer and account
executive. In 1973, he joined The New England where
he was involved in sales and financial planning. In
1977, Buddy founded Needles Eye Ministries, an
interdenominational Christian organization that ministers
to the business and professional community of Richmond,
Virginia.
Education
Buddy graduated from Randolph-Macon College in 1969
with a B.A. in political science. He entered Gordon-Conwell
Theological Seminary in 1975 and graduated in 1977 with
a Master of Theological Studies degree (magna cum laude).
In 1989 he was a recipient of Gordon-Conwell's Centennial
Year Award as a distinguished alumnus.
Community Activities
Buddy is also the founder and former President of two
other ministries, the Christian Counseling and Training
Center and The Cross-Over Ministry, a Christian outreach
that provides medical and dental care to the homeless
and inner city impoverished of Richmond.
In 1989 he was a delegate to the Lausanne II Congress on World Evangelization in Manila. In 2004 he was a member of the Marketplace Ministry Issues Group of the 2004 Lausanne Forum for World Evangelization in Bangkok.
Mr. Childress has been a member of Third Presbyterian Church since 1980. He served on Governor George Allen’s Advisory Board for a Safe & Drug Free Virginia, is a former member of the Rotary Club of Richmond and currently serves as a trustee of the Des Plaines Publishing Charitable Trust and the Richmond Christian Leadership Institute.
