In 1977, Buddy founded Needle’s Eye Ministries and still leads the organization as its President and Executive Director. A native Richmonder, Buddy continues to form many meaningful relationships with business and professional people in the area’s marketplace.Buddy has been a member of Third Presbyterian since 1980 and is still very active in the church. Jennifer ParhamJennifer R. Parham, Director of Women’s Ministry

As Director of Women’s Ministry, Jennifer describes the essence of her job as “doing life over a cup of coffee, or in my case tea, with women.” She enjoys spending one-on-one time with women, especially those who are looking for answers to spiritual questions. She also leads several weekly women’s small group studies and loves helping people understand how the Bible applies to real life situations. Jennifer’s other responsibilities at Needle’s Eye include serving as the staff liaison to Spiritual Shots™ and leading the Needle’s Eye staff.

Jennifer is a life-long member of Third Presbyterian Church and also worships at East End Fellowship in Church Hill. In addition to volunteering with kids and an affordable housing ministry in Church Hill, she volunteers with the Richmond Christian Leadership Institute and is an enthusiastic Ultimate Frisbee player and S.C.U.B.A. diver. Lisa Rattner, Director of Small Group Ministry

As the Director of Small Group Ministry, Lisa serves and supports NEM small groups, now numbering more than 40. She assists in coaching and growing group leaders and members in group dynamics and other areas, and she also connects people touched by NEM’s outreach programs (Monthly Speaker Series, special events, etc.) to NEM small groups. Lisa believes her primary role as Director of Small Group Ministry is to nurture and shepherd relationships.

Lisa is married to Bill, and they have three children and attend Grace Community Baptist Church. She loves walking, reading, homeschooling their youngest son, comic banter, making family movies and being with their small group. Read Lisa's Complete Bio

Ruth Marie Byrne, Director of Development

Ruth Marie Byrne is the Director of Development at Needle's Eye and oversees fundraising, publicity and advertising, community awareness and special events. Ruth Marie is a graduate of the University of Richmond, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and worked as an Admissions Officer for the past four years.

Ruth Marie grew up in Montgomery, Alabama and has called Richmond her home since 2002. With a heart for local and international missions, Ruth Marie is an active member of the community. She attends City Church of Richmond where she serves as a member of the Finance Committee and leadership team. She was a member of the 2009 class at the Richmond Christian Leadership Institute (RCLI) and is a current member of the Greater Richmond Chamber’s HYPE program (Helping Young Professionals Engage).

Elizabeth keeps the office running smoothly at NEM and has been since her arrival in 2000. An Ohio-transplant (born and raised in the Dayton area, attended the University of Dayton and spent 18 years in the “snowbelt” of Lake Erie), Elizabeth and her husband, Ed, have lived in Mechanicsville for almost 20 years and are the parents of 2 grown children. Whether home-grown, bonus gifts with marriage, or adopted, God has blessed them with 7 grand-munchkins.

Elizabeth is a member of Mechanicsville Christian Center. When not working at Needle's Eye or busy with the munchkins, Elizabeth enjoys reading, knitting, sewing and all forms of paper-crafting, especially rubber art stamping and scrapbooking. Both she and Ed love the Richmond winters!

Larissa Sager, Front Desk Coordinator

Larissa works as the Front Desk Coordinator for Needle's Eye. She also assists with coordinating the Small Group and Career Transition Group ministries. In her free time she enjoys reading, cooking, and all forms of dance.
